Adding images from Google Images

1. Getting an image from Google Images

There will likely be times that you want to get images that aren't available in the platform. You can paste any image into your SciFi Hive panel from anywhere but we will show you how to get images from Google Images.


First, let's get a background:

  1. Goto Google Images
  2. Enter in your search criteria (it's best to enter in the word comic or cartoon so you get images that fit nicely in a comic)
  3. Press enter to search

Getting an image from Google Images
You can apply this method to any image either online or from your machine. You just need to be able to copy it into your clipboard and then you can paste it onto your panel with Ctrl-V.

  • review the list of images returned and click on one you like to bring it up in the right hand side preview pane

  • right or alt click on the image in the preview window and click on Copy Image

2.2. Paste image into your panel
Clicking on the Paste button will also provide you with the instructions or the ability to enter in a URL to paste in.
  • return to your SciFi Hive panel and press Ctrl-V or Command-V to paste the image into the panel
  • the click on it to move and resize as needed

3. Add an image from a URL

Alternatively, you can copy the link to the image and use the Add an image from a URL function on the paste button.

  • right click on the preview image and choose copy image address

  • click on the paste button
  • paste the link you just copied into the Add an image from a URL box
  • click on "Insert Image"

4. Finding transparent images

When you want to add an object in front of the background, you usually want that objects background to be transparent. To get transparent images from google, do the following.

  • enter your search criteria and press enter
  • click on the Tools button
  • Use the Color dropdown to choose Transparent

4.1. Copy the image

Now the images that come up will have a transparent background.

  • click on one you like to preview
  • You'll notice that it has gray and white checkers behind in the background. That means transparent.
  • right click on it and choose copy image

4.2. Add it to your panel
  • go to your panel and press Ctrl-V or Command-V to add it to your panel
  • you'll notice that it has a transparent background
